Fretride — guitar learning platform

Learn Guitar. See the Fretboard.

Fretride is an interactive platform for guitarists of any level. Explore scales, build chord progressions, write tabs and lessons and share them, and practice with real recorded guitar samples — all in one place.

Fretboard Explorer

Visualize scales, chords, and intervals across the entire neck. See every note, degree, and pattern in real time as you change keys.

Adaptive Lessons

Not just lessons — intelligent exercises that transpose to any key. Practice the same concept in every tonality without rewriting a thing.

Scale & Arpeggio Training

Over 20 arpeggio patterns and 11 play styles. Build muscle memory through varied, musical repetition — not mindless drills.

CAGED System

Learn the five foundational shapes and how they connect across the fretboard. Unlock the ability to play any chord anywhere on the neck.

Interval Training

Develop your ear by recognizing intervals on the fretboard. See and hear how distances between notes form the building blocks of melody and harmony.

Chord Progressions

Build and play chord progressions. Pick from common presets or craft your own — each chord auto-voices and transposes with your key, plays in a selected position on the fretboard. Great tool to listen and understand how chords work together in any key.

Tab Editor

Create your own parts with a full-featured tablature editor. Techniques, triplets, time signatures — everything you need, built in.

Module Library

A growing collection of ready-made chords, progressions, arpeggios, and exercises. Use them as-is or customize to fit your practice. These are smart blocks, which adapt to a selected scale, so each time you could get different lessons!

Real Guitar Sound

Hand-recorded samples of acoustic and electric guitars — not synthesized tones. Hear what your parts actually sound like on a real instrument.

Share & Collaborate

Publish lessons for everyone or share privately with selected users. Build your teaching library and let others learn from your material.

Multi-Track Score

Layer multiple instrument parts into a single arrangement. Compose full pieces with rhythm, lead, and bass tracks side by side.

From the Developer

Why another fretboard learning app? As any dev could say, I tried them all but decided to create own one. Indeed, I have tried all apps which I can find, and none of them gave me functionality I wanted to practice and learn. Of course, Guitar Pro is a fantastic notation tool — but intended more towards notation, for pro users. To learn things, you have to search GP files. And even if found, they are fixed. It doesn't show you how scales connect across the neck, doesn't adapt exercises to different keys, and doesn't help you internalize the fretboard itself.

The same about Soundslice, which is amazing, but again it's for pros who know what they want to write. No fretboard visualization, no scale or arpeggio training, and no way to build your own practice modules that transpose automatically. It is just for different purposes.

With Fretride I tried to look from different angle - angle of a beginner. It is not just a notation editor — it's a practice environment where the fretboard is always front and center. Every feature — scales, CAGED shapes, arpeggios, chord progressions, the tab editor, the module library — is designed to help you actually understand the guitar neck, not just read tabs off a screen.

The idea is simple: if you can see it, hear it, and play it in every key, you'll learn it for real. That's the tool I wanted — so I'm building it and using it myself every day. I hope it helps you as much as it helps me on my guitar journey.
